Vrod Radiator & oil cooler care

Friendly reminder to all the V-Rod owners out there to inspect your radiator and oil cooler. You will be amazed at all the little stones and debris you'll find in there. If left in there, the odds of a stone vibrating & potentially damaging one of these expensive components increase of over time.
This started by picking a single stone out, then that turned into pulling the shroud off and grabbing a flashlight and cleaning each fin with a pin. An hour later, all that debris you see in this pic was in the rad & oil cooler.

Steady shot, rear motorcycle cam

In our ongoing pursuit for the steadiest shot possible more upgrades have been done to our rear cam mount. Previously there were three vertical supports, two on the inner fender and the other on the saddlebag "U" support. It was the latter that I suspect was the culprit for vibration.
Keeping the rear camera supports separate from the saddlebag mount should help smooth out the video footage. In order to do this I used two pieces of 1x1x1/4 aluminium angle and bolted that to the existing inner fender mounts, then attached a 1x1x1/4 aluminium flat bar above the licence plate holder for additional rigidity.

My Motorcycle Accident

I'm so very grateful to be alive...
Twenty years ago today I was involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident when a tow truck turned left in front of me and changed my life forever.
I spent the next 2 1/2 months in the hospital while doctors worked on my legs at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster and then the Burns and Plastic ward at Vancouver General Hospital.
On Aug 6th I was released and sent home in a wheelchair to build up strength to prepare for the next round of surgeries. At my first doctors appointment my orthopedic surgeon gave me two options, the first being amputation of my left leg above the knee and get me fitted for a prosthetic leg, then rehab and be up and around in 4-6 months. The second many surgeries while they rebuild my legs meaning I would be non weight bearing and stuck in the wheelchair until the bone graphs were completed. The damage to my left leg was so severe that even after all the operations were completed a full recovery wasn't even a possibility. This was complicated further by contracting the MRSA Super bug while in the hospital, the infection is in the bone. Due to the amount of surgeries that needed to be preformed it would take approximately a year and a half to complete and because of the infection there were no guarantees the leg could be saved.
I thanked him for everything he had done for me thus far and for giving me the choice, and said without a doubt option two. He asked me if I was sure because most people wouldn't want to have to go through what you're about to to try and save a leg. I told him that I'd rather try everything possible, have all the operations to rebuild my leg and if some where down the line that I did have to have it amputated because of infection then I would know it was the only option and there would be no wondering "What if." Option number one would have always had the "What if " factor and I wan't wanting to have that...
He smiled and said, "I thought so."

This event is free to all attendees thanks in part to our amazing sponsors, volunteers, and last years efforts which is making the 13th Annual MWT / VRod Rally to be one of the best to date. So with that said here is the lineup.
Thursday Night Buckeye Harley Davidson Bike Night Dayton Ohio
-Invade their bike night and show the haters how we roll!
-We will eat dinner while we are there and enjoy some live music.
-Kickstands up and heading south at 530 pm.
Friday Drag Racing at Muncie Dragway Sponsored by Vreelands HD! 1-5pm
-Meet at Fitzgerald Motorsports first bike out at 11am, last bike noon.
-$20 per bike to race, free to spectate
-1/4 mile timed, Grudge style racing this insures we get as many passes as possible.
Friday night 630pm is pizza at Fitzgerald Motorsports from our friends at Teaford's Dairy store Saturday Dyno Day/ Shootout 11am Sponsored by Fitzgerald Motorsports!
-Free two pulls on our in house dyno.
-We will have classes and award prizes for top of each class.
Saturday afternoon 1pm we will have a ride heading south to Hueston Woods State Park in Oxford Ohio so if you don't want to run your VRod on the dyno you can head out for a nice ride.
Saturday night 5pm at Fitzgerald Motorsports -HOG Roast, Awards Ceremony, and Raffle Prizes!
-We have a STRONG table of raffle prizes this year and this is how we pay for the event so bring some.
Saturday 7pm live entertainment until 11pm
-We will have a Beer trailer on site and operated by the Greenville Boys Baseball with all proceeds going to their organization which also happens to be our neighbour.
We will have transportation available if you have a few too many drinks $5 per person this will get you back to your hotel. This is being operated by some high school boys.

Project Vrod Red Rod Edition

It was nice to finally have the Red Rod on the road, i swapped the insurance from the silver bike to test it out and I'm very happy with how it has come out so far. I'm still waiting on a few parts, exhaust and tuner but hopefully they will be shipped soon.
