Very good condition, NO BLISTERS in chrome, few light scratches couple of small marks but on the bike it looks killer. AND at the time I took it off there was no dreaded stator wire oil leak.

VROD winter storage tips

What do you do to your motorcycle for Winter storage?

I've been following this same technique for years and it's proven to be effective. 

  • Clean bike throughly
  • Wax painted surfaces
  • Polish aluminum with AutoSol
  • Polish chrome with Mother's chrome polish
  • Fill gas tank with 94 octane
  • Add SeaFoam gas stabilizer
  • Lift bike off ground with sturdy jack
  • Strap bike down with 4 ratchet straps
  • Attach a battery tender
  • Cover bike with a quality indoor cover

VROD rusty clutch cover bolts

As if I needed another reason to swap out my OEM bolts to Colony Chrome...
Two of the 14 clutch cover bolts were very badly oxidized BUT look at the heads, there’s no sign of a underlying problem
Luckily they came out without breaking!

I cleaned the female threads going into the case with Q-Tips and alcohol and was able to turn the bolts by hand when I was done.

Ordered this Colony Jiffy Stand Mounting kit to replace the old and worn parts on the 2003 VROD. There was a noticeable difference right away when lowering or raising the stand, much smoother!
The pin is Zinc coated (not chrome) part number 3134-4
