VROD IAC unit
by Editor on 07/09/24
Ever since I bought the blue bike it has had an idle issue where it goes from smooth to the tach bouncing a few hundred rmp. Dismissed as probably lack of use and the need to be ridden, but after riding in a few hundred kilometers and having it stall out on me the other day it became apparent it was time to seek answers.
The IAC (Idle Air Control) sensor seemed to be the most likely suspect so I removed the airbox and MotoHooligan to access it. While the bike was running I sprayed carb cleaner into the inlet while working the throttle to prevent it from stalling. This should remove any gummed up deposits and hopefully smooth out the idle, it seemed to help a little bit but not as much as hoped.
Decided to call the local Harley-Davidson dealer and it tuns out this part has been discontinued and obsolete. Next I searched out the part number on eBay and found a brand new in the box sensor but at 3 times the price... nothing to do but swear a little (well actually a lot) and add to cart. Should arrive in 10 days.

VROD jiffy stand mounting kit for VRODS by COLONY
by Editor on 07/05/24
I highly recommend that you check the bushings on your bike's Jiffy stand, especially the lower one. They do wear out and can cause damage to the metal of the frame rail or even allow your jiffy stand to disengage from the motorcycle...

Saddlebags on a 2005 VRSCSE CVO VROD
by Editor on 06/26/24
These genuine Harley-Davidson hard shell saddlebags are staying on my bike much to the dismay of many. The lower portion would look better if it matched the two tone blue but getting the paint code from Harley is impossible & anything less than a perfect match would drive me bonkers...
Therefore there are only two options I'll consider, leaving them as is or having the lower sections chromed to match the tops.
If you know of a Canadian company that can chrome plastic let me know.

New version of our rear camera mount
by Editor on 06/20/24
One of the many things I like about the Corbin saddlebags is how close they fit to the rear fender, the only drawback for us was our rear camera mount cage wouldn't fit. The Harley-Davidson saddlebags had a space between the fender that the support cage utilized, with that gone I needed to figure out a way to adapt it.
This is what i've come up with so far, still need to add four more fastening points through the rear fender and into the steel inner fender support.
Replacement for Corbin license plate bracket for VROD saddlebags
by Editor on 06/19/24
When I bought the Corbin saddlebags the license plate bracket was missing, so i reached out to a guy in Florida that has a set to get the measurements. He said he could make me an exact replica if i wanted, I gladly accepted and paid him.
Unfortunately the guy who did the welding on it did a poor job, there was basically no penetration on the side that broke, resulting in a brake in that spot.
My choices were to have it re-welded or make a better & stronger version. Very happy with the way it turned out and how it is completely hidden.
