Transferring video footage

by Editor on 09/22/12

Transferring all the video footage from last months ride is nearing completion, the hi-definition video cameras used: two SONY HXR-MC1 and a SONY CX700v, capturing to AVCHD. So what does that mean..., huge file sizes. One 32 GB SONY holds approximately 7 hours at the HQ setting will take up 512 GB on a hard drive. I used 6 32GB cards and 2 16GB cards and have already filled up the first WD Elements external hard drive with a capacity of 2.5 Terri bites.
When transferring the footage into Final Cut Pro editing software it does so at a rate of hour per hour, working out to approximately 7 days.
Soon I'll be able to start editing and share some more incredible scenery with you.
