Motorcycle Camera Mount
by Editor on 09/10/10
The last several days have been spent fabricating a new and improved camera mount for the handlebar cam. The original camera mount was still performing well but there is always room for improvement, and these improvements will translate into better audio and video results. This new mount is quite similar to the original, it's made from 1/4 inch aluminum plate but it's one inch longer and one inch shorter in width. I've also moved the camera case back three inches so the camera itself is closer to the center of the fork's angle of travel. For the audio, there has been a piece of aluminum angle added in front of the stereo mic port of the camera case and foam has been place between them. This stops a lot of unwanted wind noise at higher speeds but still captures the sound of the motorcycle. All in all there was a lot of days spent measuring, drilling, filing, and polishing but the results were definitely worth it. Here are a couple of pictures of the new mount with the wind deflector and foam, I'll also be posting test video footage at a later date.
