How to mount PIAA HID cross country lights on a motorcycle

by Editor on 02/03/11

I spent the better part of yesterday making two spacers that are necessary to mount a set of PIAA HID cross country lights on my 2003 Harley-Davidson V-Rod. I spent a lot of time looking for lamp clamp that would securely support the weight of the PIAA lamps, and the 49mm clamps made by Custom Cycle Engineering were by far the best. In order for the lamp to clear the fork tube I used  a couple pieces of aluminum flat bar for theses spacers. There is still a lot more filing, sanding, and polishing to do on these spacers but this picture gives you an idea of the fitting phase.

At a later time I will use these as a pattern and make another set of spacers out of a single piece of billet aluminum, with the 5/16 allen head bolt threaded into the mount and not going all the way through.
