Duffey Lake Loop
by Editor on 07/20/10
Yesterday's ride was the Duffey Lake loop, a 692 kilometer day trip with scenery ranging from dessert like terrain, lush green wilderness, snow capped mountains, rivers, lakes and finally the fjords of Howe Sound. We left Langley at 9:30 am taking the #1 Trans Canada Highway East to Hope, then rode North up the Fraser Canyon to Cache Creek. From there was through the Marble Canyon on Highway 99 to Lillooet then to Duffey Lake. We stopped here for a little while took a few pictures and enjoyed the view.
Here's a couple of pictures the ride, more are available in the British Columbia image page.

I've been here on a number of occasions and still can't believe my eyes, it's amazing...
The road just before Duffey Lake was redone for the Olympics and it is awesome, this extends for kilometers on the other side as well. Our next stops were at Pemberton for gas, then the Sea to sky Highway from Whistler to Horseshoe Bay then back on The Trans Canada through Vancouver arriving back in Langley at 9:30 pm.
Special Thanks to Karol for accompanying me on this ride as well as for shooting video with Vridetv's helmetcam. He captured 8 hours of high definition footage with the Sony HXR-MC1 POV cam, and the HD camera mounted to my handlebars captured 8 hours as well. I will be transferring the footage from both cameras into Final Cut Pro 7 editing software, then back it all up on external hard drives, then I'll review it and start the editing. The road just before Duffey Lake was redone for the Olympics and it is awesome, this extends for kilometers on the other side as well.
