Medicine Lake in Jasper National Park Alberta Canada
by Editor on 03/22/21
Extended length video
Medicine Lake is a truly amazing place to see in Jasper National Park in Alberta Canada. We've ridden there several time but this was the first time with snow on the ground. When we pulled into the parking lot there were ice covered puddles, snow along the sides and everyone was wearing big winter coats. They looked at us like we we're out of our minds... LOL

VROD Wheels by Ruthless Designz
by Editor on 03/13/21
I'm getting pretty excited now!!!
Just received this picture from Bill Gorby of Ruthless Designz in Myrtle Beach South Carolina of my wheels all wrapped up and ready for shipping.
These wheels are cut with his #920 design and I decided to go with polished instead of chrome for the carbon fiber bike. Good Lord, you can see how shiny they are even through the wrapping!!!!
I can hardly wait for these to arrive, see them in person and unwrapped!

Progress update on rear motorcycle camera mount
by Editor on 03/11/21
Slowly but surely I'm making progress on this rear camera mount for the carbon fiber bike, over think and over build is the motto for this one!
I still have to round the corners and edges, then do all the sanding, polishing THEN come the hard part.... Drilling 4 holes into a perfectly good carbon fiber fender, that's going to hurt... But if this works as good as I think it will it'll be worth it.

Camera plate

Almost made a beaver tail...
Sure glad I caught it in time, I originally planned to cut the bottom of the plate a 5 inch round radius but once I drew out the lines on the top of the plate I realized it looked like a BEAVER TAIL!
Decided to go with the same cuts on both the bottom and top with a small radius on each corner. Time to bust out the hacksaw!

Motorcycle rear camera mount
by Editor on 02/27/21
Have you ever taken over the kitchen table and made it into a work bench?
Me neither, LOL...
Last year I made a rear camera mount for our carbon fiber bike that produced very steady and smooth video quality. In doing so there were a number of brackets added to achieve that steady shot that resulted in an appearance that was not ideal in my mind.
After giving a lot of thought in how to keep the steadiness of last years mount and developing a more streamline cleaned up version I decided get to work on it. This time I started with a piece of 1/4 x 5 x 6 aluminium flat bar and attached that to the Vrod baseplate that is used to attach a luggage rack and backrest. Then I drilled a hole for the ball head tripod and four holes that will eventually anchor the plate to the steel inner rear fender. Next I will be using four pieces of 5/16 ready rod to see where they meet with the inner fender then figure out the best way to secure them in place.
Carbon fiber Vrod fuel cell cover modification
by Editor on 02/24/21
I wanted to do a follow up on the carbon fiber fuel cell side covers on our 2003 Harley Davidson Vrod. If you have removed the stock 3.7 fuel cell and replaced it with the Unlimited Engineering 5.3 gallon tank there will a couple of things you'll need to know. When using the UE tank the ignition has been relocated, using these MDI carbon fiber covers will leave a hole where that cylinder would go. I ended up using a piece of handlebar grip and end cap to cover it as seen in the picture below. This side fit into place perfectly with no modifications needed for fitment.
On the other side I had to dremal off some material of the carbon fiber cover to get it into place because the UE tank takes up more space in that area of the triangle. I may have removed a little too much so I had to use some 3M two sided weather stripping tape to secure it into place, undetectable when mounted on bike.
Harley Davidson Vrod camera bike
by Editor on 02/21/21
Our 2003 Harley-Davidson 100th anniversary VRSCA V-Rod has gone through a lot of changes over the years. In order to achieve this we've equipped it with some of the very best performance parts in the industry and have refined our camera mounts many times to make them both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Riding two up made it a little challenging, the saddlebags are full with camera gear so I had to build a mount for a luggage rack for our waterproof duffle.
VROD front brake disc
by Editor on 02/16/21
While I'm waiting for my wheels to come back from Ruthless Designz I decided to clean up the inside edges of these front brake discs. The rotary tool with a sanding drum makes short work of a tedious task. It's a small detail but worth it once theses are on the bike.
