VROD radiator and oil cooler cleaning
by Editor on 10/13/21
The amount of debris in the fins of the radiator and oil cooler is amazing, not just this bike but any of the Vrods I've had. Tiny rocks, pieces of glass, pine needles, twigs and lots of bug parts...
Tool of choice: That pin with the purple head in the picture.
The biggest reason for spending a few hours picking clean each fin is to prevent one of those ting rocks burrowing a hole in the rad or oil cooler. I guess one could say improved airflow could be gained as well.

2003 Harley-Davidson two tone sterling silver and black 100th Anniversary VRSCA V-ROD
by Editor on 10/06/21
WARNING: If you leave a silver VROD & a black VROD in the garage alone too long, they will make sweet sweet love & spawn a baby two tone silver & black offspring.
All kidding aside, I couldn't resist buying this cream puff of a 2003 Harley-Davidson two tone sterling silver and black 100th Anniversary VRSCA V-ROD. I'll be posting better pics of it in the days to come once I've had a chance to go over it and give it a good cleaning.
Motorcycles and Fall riding
by Editor on 10/02/21
Our 2003 Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary VRSCA V-ROD sure does like the cooler temperatures of Fall riding! This picture was taken in the mountains on White Lake Road between Kaleden and Twin Falls, British Columbia, Canada.
DRAO: Radio interference control zone sign
by Editor on 09/28/21
Riding up in the mountains between Oliver and Kaleden you'll come across this sign as you approach the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory. It's a research facility founded in 1960 and located at Kaleden, British Columbia, Canada. (exact address is 717 White Lake Rd, Kaleden, BC)
Found this with a google search;
"The Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory was inaugurated in 1960 at White Lake near Penticton, British Columbia. The creation of the observatory was primarily the work of Carlyle Smith Beals, an astronomer who wanted to advance the field of astrophysics in Canada.
The first parabolic antenna, measuring 25.6 metres, began operating in 1960. It was mainly designed to operate at a wavelength of 21 centimetres, which corresponds to one of the spectral lines of hydrogen.
The study of hydrogen is of great importance to astronomers: hydrogen is the most abundant chemical element in the Universe, where it is present as a gas, and studying its distribution in the Milky Way can help astronomers reveal the structure of our galaxy. Radio astronomers at Penticton have been striving towards this goal since the first days of the observatory."

Men and Women think differently sometimes
by Editor on 09/25/21
During yesterday's ride we stopped alongside the Kettle River just outside of Rock Creek when out of the blue Diane says, "take off your shirt."
I'm thinking, "Okay I like where this is going" pealed off my shirt but then quickly realized I misread the situation when she held it up and said' "take a picture for our merch."
Don't get me wrong, it was a good idea but.... ; )

Rider wave
by Editor on 09/13/21
Our monopod cam capturing me waving back to a group of tourists from Alberta that were waving to me as I rode by. They were out of there car taking pictures of the old buildings and the funny thing is how far away I was when they turned around, reminding me once again how load my bike is!

VROD custom wheels
by Editor on 09/08/21
These started out as the stock solid wheels on our VROD, they were sent to Ruthless Designz to be machined and polished. When I got them back from Myrtle Beach I had a brand new set of Avon cobra tyres installed and balanced. Then I sanded and polished the brake rotors and all the bolts. The pulley and compensator bowl was also done to complete this custom wheel package.
BC Wildfire ride
by Editor on 09/07/21
I decided to take a ride up McKinney Road towards Mount Baldy to shoot a video of the damage they caused by the wildfire. It was very eerie riding when every corner would reveal another part of the fire's path. Some areas were completely ravished while others untouched, while the next area's trees were scorched on one side only...
The NK'Mip wildfire is still 20,066 Hectares in size and stretches from Osoyoos to Oliver British Columbia Canada.
Thank you to the brave Men and Women who risk their lives battening this wildfire and the rest in our Province.
This is an extended length video showcasing the entire ride, so que up some of your favourite music, push play and go for a virtual ride VRIDETV's extended length video series put you in the riders seat, it's as real as it get without having to wear a helmet or getting bugs in your teeth ; ) This video was shot with a SONY Professional video camera mounted to the handlebars of a Harley Davidson VROD. The road up the mountain was quite rough in most spots so the video quality is not as good as we would have liked.
Wildfire damage in British Columbia
by Editor on 09/05/21
The wildfires in British Columbia have been very bad this year and have been all over the news and social media. I decided to take a ride up McKinney Road towards Mount Baldy to shoot a video of the damage they caused. It was a very eerie riding when every corner would reveal another part of the fire's path. Some areas were completely ravished while others untouched, while the next area's trees were scorched on one side only...
There were many places I wanted to stop for a picture, but there was nowhere to pull over, or too much incline, or the shoulder was too soft, finally this spot was safe enough.

Kaleden abandoned hotel
by Editor on 09/04/21
While riding on Highway 97 I took the turn off at Kaleden to check out the lake and also to stop at the iconic Kaleden Hotel. First saw this on Global News during one of their "My Community" segments and wanted to see it in person, it did not disappoint!
Here's some info I found online:
History of the Kaleden Hotel
The park itself gets its name from the shell of an old hotel that was built back in 1912 when Kaleden was in its heyday and was fast becoming a boomtown. The hotel only operated for two years until World War I broke out the hotel was forced to close its doors. The hotel never did reopen as improving roadways reduced the need to stop in Kaleden and the town never fully reclaimed its former glory. Over the years the empty hotel was stripped of anything valuable and now all that remains is the ghostly frame and the remnants of failed dreams. That being said it is a neat place to visit especially for history buffs.
